Suzanne Perron St. Paul designs custom gowns for brides and debutantes. We make once-in-a-lifetime gowns in white and ivory. Perron focuses on making exquisite gowns designed and constructed individually for each client. Perron understands that in bridal you are not looking to be fashion forward. You want to be beautiful - fashionable, yet somewhat timeless. Suzanne Perron is known for beautifully designed flattering silhouettes - designs that are unique, ethereal, romantic, and feminine. With a perfect foundation and a perfect fit being key, Perron designs from the inside out. She collaborates with the client from sketch to finished garment. Her goal is to create a gown complementary to the bride’s personality, style, and body type. That is what she offers her clients - an opportunity to have the perfect gown designed and constructed just for her to ensure her radiance on that special day.
A potential client will meet Suzanne for an initial design consultation where we get to know the bride's personality along with her likes and dislikes. She is welcome to bring pictures of gowns or design elements she likes. We will also discuss factors that influence design. These include time and location of the wedding, formality of the event, and type of reception.
After the initial consultation, ideas are sketched to be presented to the bride with fabric options. While some clients arrive prepared with very specific ideas, others often prefer to allow complete creative freedom. The goal is to create a gown complementary to the bride's personality, style, and body type.
Once a sketch is selected, the client is measured and work begins. The gowns are built from the inside out beginning with a boned foundation and crinoline. A muslin gown that goes over the foundation is stitched. The muslin gown serves as a rough draft for the first fitting. The muslin presents the opportunity to perfect the fit and make design changes and modifications on the client prior to cutting into the real fabrics. Once the muslin fitting is complete the actual gown is made and we have a final fitting. The final fitting includes the veil and bustling.
Please contact us if you cannot find an answer to your question.
We recommend clients come to us six to eight months in advance of the wedding. However, clients that give us more time will have additional flexibility in design and fitting schedules. Also, please take into account time necessary to accommodate pre-wedding photography or destination travel.
We can make a gown in as few as six weeks if our schedule permits. This is not optimal as rush charges may be incurred and fabrication, fitting, and design options may be somewhat limited. We cannot accommodate rush dresses during Mardi Gras season.
While some clients arrive prepared with very specific ideas, others allow for us to have complete creative freedom. Please bring pictures of gowns or design elements that you like. The more information the better. We will also discuss factors that influence design. These include time and location of the wedding, formality of the event, and type of reception. The goal is to create a gown complementary to your personality, style, and body type. A few friends and relatives are welcome to join us. Please wear appropriate undergarments for measurements.
It is best to have your shoes for the muslin fitting. It is required to have shoes for the final fitting. If you do not have your shoes for the muslin fitting, bring a pair close to the heel height you plan to wear.
That is where we come in. You do not have to choose one silhouette. In a custom made gown, we can blend design elements from several gowns into one unique creation.
If you have found the dress of your dreams and you do not foresee fitting issues, buy it! We are here to create unique one of a kind creations. A custom gown takes time and effort and if you are happy with something in the market, we would recommend buying it.
With advanced notice, we can take new measurements and schedule the construction of your muslin and gown to correspond with your weight loss target date. We can begin the design process and source fabric and trims in advance.
Our custom gowns start at $6,000. Intricacy of construction, fabric consumption, and use of lace and beading are factors that will increase cost. A 50% deposit is due when the sketch and fabrics are chosen. The balance is due with the completion of the muslin fitting.
Our gowns are made here in our uptown New Orleans atelier. Suzanne takes part in the construction process. The designer oversees the entire process, works closely with her talented staff, and does some of the intricate sewing herself.
We do work with out of town clients. The initial consultation and the initial design phase can be done virtually if the client can provide accurate measurements. Meetings and fittings in our New Orleans studio are preferred. However, off site fittings can be arranged. Transportation costs will be the responsibility of the client
