Suzanne Perron St. Paul is not just a couture fashion designer, she is a maker of memories. Her handmade and hand beaded gowns are created in her New Orleans, Louisiana, studio many months before the beautiful bride, debutante, or queen dance the night away. She tirelessly and meticulously creates works of art. It’s hard to understand the process of how a simple muslin can become a couture gown fit for a fairytale story. The finest Rolls of tulle, lace, and white silk are sourced worldwide for her clientele. Any given day you can walk in her sun filled studio and see Suzanne and her team working on the underpinnings of a corset or an old-fashioned petticoat for a bridal gown that may be worn once but never forgotten.
To some it’s just a white dress but for the bride it’s the dress that will carry her into the next phase of her life, for a debutante it is the gown that will grace the ball floor, and for a Mardi Gras queen it is the dress that will be the focal point of her reign. Suzanne knows how important her job is. After developing quite an impressive body of work in New York and establishing a name for herself, Suzanne Perron St. Paul has come back to her roots. In the Spring of 2006 she established a custom bridal business in New Orleans. New Orleans is known for extravagant balls, weddings, and parties. “It makes sense to make beautiful romantic gowns and elaborate special event dresses in a beautiful historic city.”
Suzanne’s fashion education began at Louisiana State University. Her LSU experience and a degree in fashion design prepared her for the next step, The Fashion Institute of Technology’s accelerated program in New York City. Her time at the Fashion Institute of Technology was time well spent as she landed a job with Carolina Herrera who served as the critic for their student fashion show. Herrera was the first of many prestigious jobs and the beginning of a NYC Fashion Avenue Career that spanned thirteen years. Suzanne's next career stop was with Anna Sui. Anna Sui was a three-year creative journey fueled by Anna's passion for vintage inspiration, rock and roll, and the current cultural environment. Suzanne joined the Vera Wang design team in the fall of 2001. Suzanne worked directly with Vera in the design development of both the ready-to-wear and bridal collections for four years. Perron most values her experience with Vera Wang. “Vera had a tremendous amount of respect for my talent and expertise. We worked together well. My eye for proportion and silhouette along with my expertise in fit and construction were perfect for Vera’s bridal and ready to wear collections.”
